THE ISSUE: When opening Firefox, (Attachment #1 - below) appears. Seems to have nothing to do with any reality . . . as when I check in SETTINGS (Attachment #2 - below). 1. So, who's telling the truth? 2. How do I stop the popup (Attachment #1) from making it's nagging, inaccurate appearance?

Thank you / Nels

Hello, I had 2 open firefox windows on each of my monitors. I was doing work and at the end, I closed every window on my PC. When I came to the firefox windows I closed my "secondary" window first and it said "would you like to close 3 tabs" and I clicked yes. That is pretty normal, when you have 2 windows. Then I closed my "main" window the one that is always restoring when I open firefox and it also said "you're about to close 20 tabs". Once again, sometimes this happens, sometimes it doesn't, but it always knows to restore it, so to me it's normal. I put my pc to sleep and I the next morning I turn on the pc and it opens a blank homepage. I think nothing of it, so I go to try and restore it through the history and that doesn't work. I go online to look how to restore it and it says everything about backup on the profiles folder. I go there and it isn't showing the files that I had, just the ones that I used this morning. I try to change the firefox profile to see if that window is in another one it isn't. I had hopes that it wasn't erased because that morning when I opened a window and I had more than 1 tab it said to me "would you like to close 4 tabs" and that always happens when there is more than one window open. So in the end I abandoned to recover the tabs I just could do it from the history. My WHOLE history that I collected for the past 6 years is gone and all my cookies. I have Firefox Sync and it shows my history on my phone, but when I go to sync it, it still doesn't show. I need help with at least recovering all my history and cookies; Bonus points if you can try to recover my lost window. Thank you!

Hi! I recently had to reinstall Firefox. Logged into the same Mozilla account I've been using for several years, with pretty much the same config files I've been using since I switched to Linux, and suddenly--for the first time in at least a year--Firefox has (again) started trying to "fix" searches I put into the address bar that aren't prefaced with a search engine. How do I turn this off? (For example, if I go to the address bar and type in "cats" I get directed to a page like the first attached screenshot. If I type in "@google cats" I get directed to the second attached screenshot...)

I'm pretty sure I've disabled everything in prefs.js that relates to that. Um. Feature? But clearly I haven't been able to disable it yet! So.

I Have contacted NextDoor about this also, but in my original FF profile there was a login issue, after trying to reset my password, the NextDoor login screen comes up blank white. If I make another FF profile, It comes up with the NextDoor login screen, and if I start FF in troubleshooting mode NextDoor comes up and I can login. Any idea how to rectify this. I cleared cookies, cache and browser info, to no avail, even start up cache in the troubleshooting. Thank you for any help you may be able to provide. This morning this was at the top of my screen when I logged into my computer. "For quick access, place your bookmarks here on the bookmarks toolbar. Manage bookmarks..."

I did click on it however nothing happened or so I thought. I later go to the upper right hamburger and click on it and go to the bookmark tab only to find all my bookmarks are gone.

Can anyone tell me how to get them back since that is my quick access to my business sites? Is there a way to find them or are they just gone?

I cannot get the tab to stay out so I can take a screen shot. Sorry.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

NB - For the past half a year I have to sometimes right click to interact with them, anyway

Effectively, I will interact with the extension at the most basic, normal level on something that has interactive elements like a dropdown menu, or basic options.

I will click / right click on the icon and the highlight will appear, then that's it ... the browser then crashes and does not recover. :(

What's worse is that I have to Force Quit and when I restart there is no crash report to send to Moz.

I am just wondering if other Linux users have experienced similar issues.

The attached image is taken at the moment before the 'Force Quit' dialogue opens up in Debian 12 Gnome (Wayland) ...

I have Hardware Acceleration on.

I am about to start testing with it off, but I work from the browser, and do not want performance compromises. So that is (at best) a work-around, and certainly is not a fix.

I'm on version 147.0.2 (64-bit) which would appear to be from the Mozilla Firefox Debian Package mozilla-deb - 1.0 install/repo/whatever ... and the PC specs are: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10850H CPU @ 2.70GHz Memory: 32705MB (11893MB used) Resolution: 7680x2358 pixels OpenGL Renderer: Quadro RTX 3000/PCIe/SSE2

These are my media. prefs ... but ... I doubt that it is relevant: media.ffmpeg.allow-openh264 true media.ffmpeg.customized-buffer-allocation true media.ffmpeg.disable-software-fallback false media.ffmpeg.enabled true media.ffmpeg.encoder.cpu-used 7 media.ffmpeg.encoder.enabled true media.ffmpeg.encoder.quantizer-max 35 media.ffmpeg.encoder.quantizer-min 10 media.ffmpeg.vaapi.force-surface-zero-copy 2
